Company drives industry shift toward more circular approach to consumer electronics with the goal to provide ease of use and flexibility to its growing user base
MIAMI, FL (September 21, 2021) — Grover, the global leader for renting consumer electronics on-demand, today announced its launch into the U.S. market, bringing flexible tech subscriptions to gadget lovers everywhere. The launch comes on the heels of explosive growth in demand for Grover’s service in Europe, where it is the market leader with over one million registered users, as well as a recent $1 billion financing round. As a business with rapid growth, during and following the height of the COVID pandemic, and with revenue that grew by 150 percent in 2020, Grover’s expansion from Europe to the U.S. showcases the company’s continued success. To spearhead this growth and expansion into the U.S., Grover has also announced that former Uber executive Andrew Draft will join as U.S. General Manager, bringing more than a decade of experience in the e-commerce and technology industries. With its launch in the U.S., Grover aims to fuel its consumer growth and make electronic devices accessible and affordable while also helping tackle the world’s e-waste problem.
Grover provides users with a customer experience that breaks down barriers and empowers its users’ possibilities with simpler access to technology. The company enables consumers to rent all the tech products they need for a low monthly rate and return them after use. Customers benefit from a complimentary damage coverage, as well as a purchase option should they decide to keep the device; making Grover's subscription model the most convenient, flexible and affordable way to access tech. Customers can choose from more than 250 products on Grover’s App or website, including leading brands like Apple and Samsung and categories such as laptops, smartphones, wearables, gaming and smart home. Subscribers can select minimum rental periods of one, three, six or 12 months. At the end of the minimum rental period, customers can extend their subscriptions on a monthly rolling basis, purchase the device outright, or simply return the product to Grover. With 500,000 devices already circulated and an equivalent of 1,500 tons of e-waste saved, Grover champions sustainability and reduces product under-use by recirculating devices on an average of four to five times.
“Grover is transforming the way people access and enjoy technology, allowing consumers to flexibly rent devices that best suit their needs at that time,” said Michael Cassau, Founder and CEO of Grover. “Following our successful launches in Europe last year, we strive to continue the momentum and show consumers how technology can make your life better and easier without causing you a financial burden.”
Prior to his move to Grover, Draft served as Head of Regional Midwest Corporate Partnerships at Uber Eats and acted as General Manager of Postmates where he oversaw city-level growth, sales and operations out of Chicago. Draft also led business development at Wantickets, a leading online nightlife, electronic dance music and event ticketing company.
“I’m thrilled to join the Grover team at such a pivotal time in the company’s journey,” said Andrew Draft, Vice President and U.S. General Manager of Grover. “We have the ability to provide Americans with a solution to save and spend money smarter on consumer tech that they need, while circulating and refurbishing products to keep our efforts sustainable and long-lasting.”
On a mission to give consumers access to premium consumer technology at an affordable price and on a flexible schedule, Grover strives to inspire consumers to prioritize renting technology, creating a better, smarter and more sustainable future. With its U.S. headquarters based in Miami, Grover’s product offering will immediately be available for rent from anywhere in the continental U.S.
